Coaching Showcase
The concentration I chose to pursue through the MAED program is coaching and sport leadership. Please explore the showcase below highlighting items that I have learned, incorporated, or will incorporate into my coaching experience.
Positive Youth Development Program
To culminate my vision to help youth develop and prosper through sport, I created a program that demonstrates positive youth development. This program focuses on creating a fitness program to help students understand useful values while training for a sport or just living a healthy lifestyle. Youth coaches are also recruiters (in a legal manner). In order to recruit players at the youth level, communication must be made regarding the beginning of the season and when tryouts will occur. The following is an example of a tryout flyer that was created to communicate with the players and parents of those athletes interested in playing basketball: Critical Performance Factors
All sports include factors that are critical to an athlete's performance. As coaches, we try to motivate and plan for an athlete to reach maximum performance. A coach must identify the most important factors and plan for the athlete to utilize each factor positively. The following is an example of critical performance factors found in the sport of football: |
Injury Prevention Circuit
An important part of coaching is having the knowledge to keep players safe by preventing or minimizing injury. I created a project that lists sample strength training and flexibility exercises that would help prevent or minimize the most common injuries that occur in football, a sport that I coach. Please click the button below to view the exercises: Hazing Policy
An aspect of youth sport that has been increasingly on the rise lately is hazing. Hazing is a very serious act that can cause great danger and consequences for those involved. I have created a hazing policy that could be implemented in youth sport programs. Please click the button below to view the policy: |
